Electronic Meditation Program (EMP) was created with the specific intent of harnessing failing and obsolete technologies to create experimental and minimalist compositions. Analog tape loops, defective synthesizers and various other feeble devices were used to manipulate field recordings as well as to construct new arrangements. EMP was most active between the years of 2001 and 2004, with the last live performance in 2014. EMP is currently working on a collaborative effort with Russian sound collage artist Vitaly Maklakov, due for completion early 2018.
"...sounds that are sometimes gently unhinged but never fully deranged. It’s a brand of homemade experimentalism that relies on tactful arrangements, rather than loads of gear. Cautious variations add more than they seem to, as they interact with fainter sounds creeping in from the edges." - Impose Magazine (www.imposemagazine.com)
"...serious underpinnings, emphasizing the nexus of Fair's experimentation at the intersection of those decrepit machines and his own frail emanations..." - Decoder Magazine (decoderdecoderdecoder.blogspot.com)
